The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky Signature
is an exposition of the traditional art of The Balvenie Malt Master, David Stewart.
Nose: Rich and complex with honey, citrus fruits and vanilla oak notes.
Taste: Rich and honeyed with a hint of sherry fruitiness. A spiciness of cinnamon and nutmeg and a subtle oakiness develop with time.
The finish is warm and lingering.
The Balvenie Thirty Single Malt Scotch Whisky
is a rare and especially fine single malt for which David Stewart selects only exceptional casks that were laid down over thirty years ago.
Nose: Silky smooth and honeyed on the nose with mellow oaky tones and hints of candied orange peel.
Taste: Great depth with rich dark chocolate, hints of plum, marzipan and caramelised pear. An exceptionally smooth and warming finish with gentle spice and lingering sweetness.
The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky Rum Cask, Aged 17 Years
The Balvenie Rum Cask 17 Year Old was matured in traditional oak casks before spending a second period of maturation in rum casks shipped from Jamaica.
Nose;- A vibrant aroma with intense floral and fruity notes. Orange peel, lavender, coconut and a hint of ground nut oil.
Taste:-Beautifully sweet with characteristic Balvenie vanilla notes backed up with subtle spiciness of cinnamon and silky oak.
Finish:- Exceptionally smooth and long lasting.
The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky Islay Cask, Aged 17 Years
In the making of The Balvenie Islay Cask, David Stewart selected Balvenie single malt which had matured in traditional oak casks for at least 17 years and transferred it into 94 casks which had previously held Islay single malt. After six months he felt the casks had imparted the desired delicate amount of peaty notes, typical of Islay, whilst retaining the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.
The Balvenie Islay Cask was bottled in 2001 and the late Michael Jackson, world renowned whisky expert and author of The Malt Whisky Companion, wrote the following
about it:
Nose:- Remarkably smoky aroma: lingering and soft, but also with some sweetness. Evokes thoughts of steam trains and garden bonfires. Some leafy, ferny, notes.
Taste:- Again, soft, with some of the same smoky sweetness. Like sugar being caramelised. A touch of candied orange peel. Lemon. Bread-and-butter pudding. All of these are more typical Balvenie flavours.
Finish:- The interplay of sweetness and smokiness finally melds into a fragrant, soothing, afterglow.
