Small Batch Bourbons

As the name suggests only produced in small quantities, by tradition up to only twenty barrels at the most.

The Small Batch Bourbon Collection represents the very best in bourbon, each handcrafted in limited quantities using time-honoured recipes. These special recipes allow each Small Batch Bourbon to be distinctively different. Basil Hayden's Bourbon.

Sipping History:

The recipe dates back to 1796 when Basil Hayden himself was a master distiller. Basil Hayden was born and raised in Maryland, where he learned to make whiskey from rye. When he came to Kentucky, Basil added the corn that grew so abundantly there to his rye-based recipe for whiskey.

Beam Family Secret:

Following its eight years in new charred American white oak barrels, Basil Hayden’s® is both charcoal-filtered, then chill-filtered. This is one of the reasons why Basil Hayden’s, bottled at a gentle 80 proof, is such an incredibly smooth and approachable whiskey.

Tasting Tradition:

Basil Hayden’s Bourbon embraces both traditions of utilizing rye and corn
-- the mash contains twice as much rye as most other bourbons.
During the aging process, the spicy flavour and aroma imparted by the rye marries with the sweet oaky smoothness of the corn.

Basil Hayden’s unique packaging features a bib-style label and metal band-wrap reminiscent of liquor labels from the early 1900s.
