Established in Veranópolis, South East corner of Brazil near the Uruguay border.

This region provides the ideal conditions to produce malt whisky. Located in a valley between the mountains providing a climate and crystalline, cold, abundant quality water supply, essential ingredients in the production of malt whisky.

Working with Morrison’s Bowmore the distillery has developed experience and knowledge all thought the whisky distillation process.

The high qualified professionals employed, the structure and technology make the Union Distillery malt whisky an international quality product.

The company has specialised in the production of malt whisky and the development of other distilled beverages (Cachaças) assembling tradition and refinement with the highest technology and quality.

All the steps of the process are controlled by the Food Safety Rules with the system HACCP/GMP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points / Good Manufacturing Practice).

Union Distillery Timeline

1948: Foundation of the UNION OF INDUSTRIES LTD to produce wines and derivatives.

1972: Succession to BORSATO & Cia to produce malt whiskeys and fine drinks.

1974: The corporate name of the Distillery was changed to

UNION DISTILLERY MALTWHISKY DO BRASIL LTDA

1986: International technical assistance contract with the Scottish firm Morrison Bowmore Distillery Ltd.

1988: Company shall produce and sell only malt whiskey in bulk.

The Maltwhisky Distillery is opened to visitors, linked to the efforts of the City of Veranópolis to attract tourists.

2005: Deployment PROGRAMME OF TOTAL QUALITY MALTWHISKY.

2006: Implementation of GMP-HACCP.

2008: Commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Company.

2010: Start of the ISO 22000 certification process.
