St Georges Whisky Distillery History
The English Whisky Co. was established as one of the first and for the time being the only registered whisky distilling company in England.
Others are in planning stages one other failed and a Cornish Brewery produces a whisky in batches
Their objective is to produce excellent quality whisky that will be able to compete with some of the finest whiskies currently on the market. Aiming to use the very best local ingredients, giving a selection of unique and truly excellent whisky.
St.George’s Distillery became operational in December 2006.
The distillery sits in a willow field on the banks of the river Thet just off the A11 between East Harling and Roudham
The county of Norfolk produces excellent malt barley exported to distillers worldwide.
Below the distillery is a giant fresh water aquifer supplying cold pure crystal clear water.
Norfolk enjoys a lot milder climate than Scotland helping the spirit to mature a lot faster
The distillery produced its first 'run' on 12th December 2006 and it was with much excitement and with an enormous sense of achievement that the first barrel of 'St. George's whisky' was filled and along with the rest of the run, was put away for 3 years to mature.
