Glenallachie Scotch Whisky Distillery History
Built in 1967 by Mackinlay & McPherson Ltd who were part of Scottish & Newcastle Breweries at the time for their Mackinlay blends.
The distillery was designed by W Delme Evans the architect also designed Isle of Jura and Tullibardine distilleries.
The distillery operates a stainless steel semi-Lauter mash tun, 6 stainless steel washbacks, with 4 medium sized pot stills. The wash stills have pinched waists the spirit stills are the conventional onion shape.
Purchased by Invergordon in 1985 and closed two years later. New owners Campbell Distillers reopened the distillery in 1989
Used exclusively in the distiller’s own blends, the principle blend is Clan Campbell

Tasting notes:-
The initial nose is light and floral, before the appearance of malty, citric notes. The light, oily body leads to palate redolent with malty , citric flavours. The finish is long, complex and lingering.(S)
