The Isle of Mull.
Lies off the west coast of Scotland, south of the remote Ardnamurchan and Morvern peninsulas and due west of Oban on the mainland, separated by the Sound of Mull
Tobermory, the capital of Mull, lies towards the northern end of the island. The bay is one of the safest anchorages in the Hebrides, indeed the original name for the distillery, Ledaig (pronounced Lea-chaig) is Gaelic, and means "safe haven". This made it the ideal place for a fishing town, which was built in 1788.
There is not a harbour in Britain to match Tobermory with its famous brightly painted buildings and lively atmosphere.
These days the main activities on the island are tourism, agriculture, forestry and of course, distilling.
The distillery is situated at the southern end of the harbour.
Orkney Isles
The islands of Orkney are steeped in history and are thought to have been inhabited since the 8th century BC and are host to a wealth of Neolithic sites including Skara Brae.
Forming part of the Norse Western Empire for over 700 years and were ruled by the Vikings from the 11th century providing a perfect base to launch attacks into Scotland and the eastern coast of England.
Scapa Distillery can be found on the South-West of Kirkwall, by the Lingro Burn. It was founded in 1885 by Macfarlane and Townsend with John Townsend at the helm.
Highland Park Located on the southern edge of the town of Kirkwall Highland Park s the most northerly distillery in the Scotland.
The distillery still cuts its own peat, which it uses in its traditional floor malting of the barley on its premises.
The Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye, is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
Its name was derived from its Old Norse name of Skið = "ski" Some legends associate the isle with the mythic figure of Scáthach. The island is sometimes also known as the "Isle of Mist".
The main industries are tourism, agriculture, whisky-distilling, brewing and craftmaking. The main town and capital of the island is Portree, which is known for its picturesque harbour.
Skye is renowned for its spectacular scenery, the most dramatic and challenging mountain terrain in Scotland, heritage, as well as its abundant wildlife including the Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle, Red Deer and the Otter
