Islay Mist Blended Scotch Whisky

Islay Mist is a blend of fine aged whiskies all matured in oak casks to develop their full character, and blended together with great care by our Master Blender to produce a full bodied yet subtle whisky that is truly “Deluxe”. True connoisseurs of fine Scotch Whiskies will readily detect the presence of the world famous single Islay Malt which is at the heart of the blend.

Islay Mist Scotch Whisky is itself, world famous and owes its existence to a celebration which would mark the 21st birthday of the son (now Lord Margadale) of the Laird of Islay House in 1922.

It was considered, that for such an important celebration with guests from far and wide, that the famed single malt Laphroaig might be too heavy for everyone’s taste, so that malt was blended with a range of high quality highland malts, including Glenlivet, and a grain whisky.

The resulting balance proved so popular that it was decided to market a similar blend under the name of Islay Mist, a deluxe Scotch Whisky now held in high esteem.

The island of Islay is the southern-most of the Western Isles, off the Atlantic coast of Scotland. Its principal industries are farming and whisky distilling, and Islay Whiskies are a distinctive a greatly sought-after group amongst Scotch Whiskies. Little has changed since legal distilling began in 1815.

Three things make Islay whiskies special:

 l) the peat soaked by the sea spray and the wild Atlantic storms,

2) the water that runs through the soft marshy ground over hard granite rocks, and is soft and naturally flavoured by the peat, and

 3) the skills and tradition of distilling handed down by generation to generation.

Islay Mist is not only available as a deluxe blend, but also as an 8 year old blend, a superior Masters 12 year old, and a highly distinctive 17 year old in a unique bottle contained in a wood-effect drum. This is a rare blend indeed and only available in limited quantities.

The seal of the Lords of the Isles - the Great Seal of Islay - is proudly carried by Islay Mist.
