Locke’s Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes

Tasting notes of Jim Murray, renowned Whiskey Commentator Provided by the Cooley Distillery

Locke's Premium Blend Irish Whiskey

Nose: - Sweet and malty

Taste: - Sweet and smooth at first. Possessing a full malty and spicey middle and a delightful honeyed sweetness, which rolls around the palate, filling the mouth. It glides over the taste buds like the smoothest of silks. Well-balanced overtones of oak wood.

Finish: - The powerful maltiness trickles off leaving the grain which is first noticeable as the conveyor of ex-bourbon cask vanillins. Soft, clean and quite malty with a little oloroso sherry wood.

Serving Suggestions: - Locke's premium blend Irish Whiskey can be served neat, on the rocks, or with a little water to taste. It can also be served with any mixer, or with coffee to make an authentic Irish Coffee. It is also great for cooking. Really the possibilities are endless

Locke’s 8 year old Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Nose: - Full flavoured nose bulging with big fruit-barley character. Oaky traces from the oldest of Cooley's malts.

Taste: - The barley is big and succulent. There is a copper-tanginess followed by a dry fruity flavour.

Finish: - The malt is nothing short of enormous & with a tanginess character. The minimum 8-year-old oak passes leaving a vanilla essence and peaty finish.

Serving Suggestions; - Locke's 8 Year old Single Malt can be served neat, on the rocks, or with a little water to taste. A very enjoyable dram to be enjoyed after lunch.

Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey

Nose: - Traces of sweet oloroso plus some sweet malt that over powers the clean grain.

Taste: - There is an abundant lushness, where the malt moves freely around the palate, gathering honey notes along the way.

Finish: - The dryness purveys with some genuine oaky tones coming through.

Serving Suggestions: - Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey can be served neat, on the rocks or with water to taste. It is also an excellent ingredient for cocktails and perfect with mixers.
