Port Dundas Distillery History

Not easy to find any information about this distillery even the location is difficult.

The distillery is situated just north of junction 16 of the M8 in Glasgow on North Canal Bank Street (No Visitors)

Originally there were two distilleries in the locality Port Dundas established in 1811 by Daniel McFarlane Two years later a second Port Dundas established by Brown, Gourlie & Co

During 1845 Coffey Stills were installed in both distilleries

Both distilleries merged and joined DCL in 1877

The distillery was badly damaged by fire in 1903.

Transferred to the management of Scottish Grain Distillers Ltd in 1966 and underwent complete renovation

Now part of Diageo

 

Major contributor to Haig, Johnnie Walker and White Horse. blends
