Gordon & MacPhail can be regarded as the World's Leading Malt Whisky Specialist, offering more than 450 presentations of own-bottled single malts, aged from five to 60 years old, and a stock holding of more than 700 whiskies.
The company has been in business for over 110 years and has remained independent and family-owned throughout its history.
James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street, Elgin, the whisky capital of the world, on 24th May 1895, promising to provide their customers with 'the utmost satisfaction' and guaranteeing 'a superior article at a popular price'.
The 'Pride of the Regions' is a classic range of blended malts demonstrating the distinctive styles of the whisky producing regions - Strathspey, Orkney, Islay and the Lowlands.
A blended malt is a marriage of malt whiskies from different distilleries, as opposed to a single malt that is from just one distillery.
There has always been a steady demand for vatted malts, as some believe that they may be more consistent in style, where single malts vary from vintage to vintage. It has also been said that a vatted malt is a good introduction to malt whisky.
